Do I even need to file a return? +

If salary is your only income and your employer deducted APIT in full, the law generally doesn't require you to file (s.94 of the Inland Revenue Act) — though the IRD can still ask you to. Any other income — interest, rent, freelance — means you file by 30 November. Our income tax guide at lankantax.com/income-tax-sri-lanka/ walks through every situation.

Are the calculators really free? +

Yes — free, no signup, no email. They run in your browser and we don't store what you type. The paid products are the desktop software for preparing complete returns; the calculators stay free either way.

Is my data private? +

The calculators compute in your browser and we don't store your figures. LankanTax Desktop goes further: it has no server component at all — your return is prepared and stored only on your own computer, with encrypted backups to your own Google Drive or OneDrive.

What does LankanTax Desktop cost? +

Rs 7,000 as a one-time launch price (the regular price is Rs 15,000). No subscription. It prepares returns for your whole household for Y/A 2025/26; annual tax-table updates are optional and priced each April.
