Find a Tax Consultant in Sri Lanka

67 verified firms across 11 districts · free listings, checked against the CA Sri Lanka practising list and each firm's website

Most salaried people in Sri Lanka can file their own return, and our filing guide walks you through it. If you have several income sources, foreign remittances, rental property or a business, a practitioner earns their fee. This directory lists chartered accountancy firms and tax consultants by district, with the office phone and website we verified and the date we checked.

How this list works

Listings are free and are not endorsements. We check each firm against the CA Sri Lanka practising list and the firm's own website, and we record the date we checked. The Inland Revenue Department does not publish a list of authorised representatives, so verify credentials yourself with CA Sri Lanka or CITSL before you engage anyone. Fees are set by each firm.

These districts have fewer than 3 verified firms so far, so they do not have their own page yet. Firms with island-wide coverage (for example RTA Sri Lanka, BBK Partnership and HMT Accounting Solutions) take clients remotely; most practitioners will work with you over WhatsApp and email.

How we verify a listing

  • CA Sri Lanka practising firm (registry 2024): the firm appears on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka practising firm list with a 2024 renewal, and we found an independent footprint (its own website or a maps listing).
  • Website checked: the phone number shown appears on the firm's own website on the date stated.
  • CITSL member: a partner appears on the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Sri Lanka fellow or associate list.
  • Confirmed by phone: we spoke to the firm and it confirmed the details and that it prepares income tax returns.

Firms found only in phone-book style directories are not published until we confirm them. We never list a person's name or personal mobile without their consent. Read more about how we work.

Common questions

Do I need a tax consultant to file in Sri Lanka?

No. Individuals file through the IRD e-services portal themselves, and employees whose only income is salary with APIT deducted often have little to add. A practitioner is worth paying for when you have business income, rent, foreign remittances, capital gains or a dispute with the IRD.

What does a tax consultant charge?

Fees are set by each firm and vary with complexity. A simple individual return from a small practice is typically a few thousand rupees; a large firm or a return with business accounts costs more. Ask for the fee before you hand over documents.

Is a chartered accountant the same as a tax consultant?

Not always. A chartered accountancy firm on the CA Sri Lanka practising list can prepare and lodge returns, and many also audit. A tax consultant may be a CITSL member, a former IRD officer or an accountant who specialises in tax. Either can file for you; check what they are qualified in.

Can I get my firm listed?

Yes, free. Use the link below. We verify every listing against a public source before it goes live.
