LankanTax exists because working out your income tax in Sri Lanka is harder than it should be. Official sources are accurate but hard to navigate; most third-party articles are out of date the moment rates change. We build free calculators and plain-language guides that are updated the day the rules change — and we show our sources.
Who is behind LankanTax
LankanTax content is reviewed by our co-founder Sampath Munasinghe, a taxation professional and accountant in Sri Lanka. Sampath is the former Director of Tax at B. R. De Silva & Co., Chartered Accountants, a Fellow Member (FTII) of the Sri Lanka Institute of Taxation and an elected member of its Executive Council, and a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. His day-to-day work covers personal and corporate tax computations, statutory compliance, and representation before the Inland Revenue Department — the same rules our calculators implement.
What we will always do
- Cite the Inland Revenue Act and IRD notices for every rule we state.
- Date-stamp every page, and update calculators and guides the day rates change.
- Fix errors publicly and fast — accuracy reports are the highest-priority issue on this site.
What we don’t do
We don’t give individual tax advice. The calculators produce estimates for common situations; for complex affairs, engage a licensed tax practitioner. See how our calculators work for exactly which rules we implement and how we verify them.
